I recently came into posession a Digital Projection Ivision 20HD that I got as part of a salvage sale through the insurance company I work for. The projector had gotten a little bit of water in it through the top of the housing and wound up on the top of the main board, shorting out a couple of the smaller components. The unit actually powers up, but will not prject an image and within 30 seconds, the fan speed picks up and the indicator light flashes red several times indicating it needs service. I've tried to contact Digital Projection directly, but they won't provide service for the unit unless I go through a dealer. There is no dealer near me, and I doubt they would help me since I didn't purchase it through them in the first place. I've contacted several online projector repair companies, and the one single response that I got back indicated they can no longer get parts for the Ivision 20HD and the main board would cost $1000 to $1500 plus labor even if they could get it. Is there anyone out there who can give me some advice so I can get this little gem working again. I've read great reviews, and desperately want to join the ranks of you who enjoy the really big screen. Thanks for any input anyone can provide. |

I think the 7210 is great, if you are putting up a large image and need the added brightness.
The Digital Projection iVision HD model may or may not be better after calibration but there is one thing that it very likely has:
A price tag that is out of line with the quality you will get.
Even the 7210 tends to be a bit pricey for the quality.
I'm not one for impractically advising people to spend to much money. I'm not going to start now. So, the question in my mind asks what does the 7210, HD 20, or even a Optoma H78 offer to you over a projector like the AE900 or the Z4?
Other than the fact that you have a dealer trying to sell them to you?
If you are looking to spend that much, why not the new Sony 1080p model projector? That's a model that may just blow the doors off of everything in its price range this year. |
