Topic:   HC3000

I saw your earlier posts and it seems like you have a very similar set up to mine. unfortunately in my case, I am having some issues with the tv signal. I have a new HD receiver from direct tv using hdmi hookup. the menu's from the receiver look sharp and gorgeous but the image coming across from the satellite (actual picture) looks like a tv from the 1980's. My DVD's on the other hand, play perfectly and look really sharp. I have a 100" diagonal fixed screen and don't know what else to do??? I just need the top three things to test... :)

I just wanted to thank all of the helpful people on this site. They have made this possible or at least easier for me. Below is the review I posted today. I will try to check back and answer any questions, but I seem to be busy these days. ................. After about six months of research, I bought this PJ in Dec 2005. I am projecting onto a wall covered with Behr Silverscreen with a 110" diag framed out (painted black floor molding). I was, and still am, completely blown away by this PJ. It has been a life changer. I use it everyday for SDTV, HDTV, PC, DVD, TIVO, and games. I constantly get comments like "I want that" and "how much will that cost me" from my friends, family, and neighbors. No one believes me that there isn't a screen there. They have to go up and check it out up close. A cop in my neighborhood was investigating a crime in my neighborhood. He came into my house and was glued to the screen. We sat and watched the Olympics for a while as I explained how to acquire one. I think he has one now. I have about 900 hours on the lamp so far. I have not even touched the settings yet (like people on other forums have mentioned). I suppose I will calibrate it someday. I bought an extra lamp so I won’t be stuck if a situation arises. It is plenty bright. I have a bay window in the room with the option to pull a room-darkening shade down. I can watch normal programming with it open. However, when watching dark movies (i.e. Batman Forever or The Matrix), I prefer to draw the shade in the day time. All of this is in LOW LAMP mode! It is quiet. I sit directly below it. I hear the fan for about 30 seconds AFTER I shut it off for the night. I cannot see how anyone could go wrong with this pj. Well, if you have less than a standard 8' ceiling AND you want a picture bigger than 110" diag, you may have a problem. Ceiling mounting is the way to go with this one. You can tell just by handling it, that it is a solid piece of equipment. Mitsubishi really knows their stuff. I had the 400u "minimits" with me when I was deployed to Iraq. It strived and survived in the harshest environment I can think of. I used it for movie night outdoors for soldiers. Wind and dust were no problem. So, when I returned and saw this pj hit the market, it was a no-brainer. I have no regrets either. Anyone considering a 720p projector should carefully think about this one.

Topic:   PICTURE THIS!

I have a lot more pics and the room is a little different now, so I will try to post more soon. The HC 3000 is a do-it-all machine for my family. We love it.

Topic:   DVDs that help me calibrate my projector?

Looking to buy a Mitsubishi Projector HC3000U and after reading the forum, most people suggest a way to calibrate the screen. is there a DVD out there I can buy to help me calibrate it? Most AV store charges big bucks to calibrate them... or does the projector it self can calibrate? Thanks

Topic:   Ground Loop

I have "ground loop" interference rolling through my picture. I have pinpointed the problem: a dimmer on the same circuit. The problem goes away when the lights are totally off/on. Is switching circuits the only solution to my problem? It isn't an issue if it's just my wife and I watching a movie. But, if I'm having people over for a game and want to dim the lights a little, I'm stuck. Any ideas? Thanks.
