The Sony VPL-VW100 manual specifies the only possible lens horizontal shift adjustment as +/- 1 mm by screwdriver and augments with a small drawing lacking a scale. I need the shift as a +/- percentage of horizontal image width to be able to calculate the feasibility of a retrofit of the unit into an existing lift and screen setup that can't be altered easily. Sony second-level tech support doesn't know and claims they can't get the answer. I can't commit to buy a projector just to get the answer or to find out that the shift is not sufficient. Can anyone supply the answer or refer me to someone who has the answer? |

Power conditioning for your projector
I am planning to have a ceiling mounted projector (Sony VLP-VW100. BTW, let me know if there is another one that comes close to its performance so I can save some $$$). The sales representative has pointed out that I MUST purchase a line conditioner. Well, it is all great; however, all my wires will be hidden behind the sheetrock, so here is a Million dollar question:
Where can I possibly install the freaking line conditioner if I am planning to have a power outlet on the ceiling?
Before you point out the obvious, please note that these power line conditioners are very big and very ugly.
For all of you that have a projector installed on the ceiling: Any tips for installation (in addition to what is in the FAQ)
While I was able to grab your attention, please let me know of any reviews or personal feedbacks for the screen that I am considering:
Motorized Da-Lite with Pearlescent screen.
Many Thanks,

I am finally taking the plunge and going for a projector. I have a $10,000 budget for the projector and am getting so many different options from every Hi-Fi store I go to that I am more confused than when I started. I was leaning towards the sony vpl-vw100 because i was told it has a very high contrast ratio (15,000:1). It's also 1080p; however I also know that it has relatively low lumen output of 800. I am putting a screen on the wall of my living room, and there will be some ambient light. Nothing I can't control, as I have blackout shades, but my girlfriend often reads with a light while I watch TV. Based on this situation does anyone have recommendations or general advice. Investing a lot into this and don't want to make the wrong decision. Thanks |
