Topic:   EP719 not powering up

I have an ep719 that just quit. No fans turn on, replaced bulb hoping, but of course nothing happened. It never moved or made any sounds it just quit. Is there a fuse inside that may have blown? Nothing smells unusual like a blown cap or anything. Anyone with any exp. with these?

Topic:   Apartment setup

Three years ago when I was living at my parents house I bought the Optoma EP719. I mainly use it with my computer using a VGA cable. Also I use it for my xbox, wii and sometimes cable. I dont own a TV because I have had to move a few times in the past year for my job and my projector has come in handy. Plus I cant go back to looking a small screen. My bulb is going to need to be replaced at any time now so I was wondering if it is better to buy a new projector or replace the bulb. I really can not justify buying a high end projector while living in an apartment but I would like to take a step up from my current unit.

Does anyone know how many volts are needed to drive the bulb on this projector?

Topic:   Worth repairing?

My 18 month old EP719 recently quit with no light coming out of it at all. It powers up with a solid green power light, no error blinks or other LEDs lit. I replaced the lamp for $300 (stupid, I know!) thinking this had to be it, but same symptoms, boots, fan turns on, green solid light, but no light. I measured 46 volts going to the bulb socket connectors - is this enough volts? Anyway, with projector costs coming down, is this unit worth fixing?

Topic:   Projecing SHARP images

just had my first meeting with a client in which I projected images onto a screen. I ended up having to show the client several images on my laptop monitor, because they were not sharp enough when projected. I had focused very carefully with the projector lens to make things as crisp as possible, but the results are unacceptable to me. I was using a macbook with a DVI cable connected to my projector, so from what I have heard, that should get much better results than a VGA cable. Specifications. 2000 ANSI lumens, 2500:1 contrast, native 4:3 format 1024x768 resolution DLP chip with a 2x rotation speed color wheel. I hope there is something that I am missing, because if this is the best my setup can do, then I have wasted a grand! Thanks in advance for any advice ; ) Ron
