My Optoma EP 745 has reached a point where it is now overheating practically every 10-15 minutes, even in good operating conditions (not too hot, etc.). How can I fix this? I've heard that changing the filter(?) will remedy the problem, but I don't know how to get to the filter to change it & I'm hesitant to do so. Any ideas/advice would be appreciated. |

I too have an Optoma EZpro 745 and for the most part, love its results when watching movies an playing video games.
I think its time to upgrade my projector though, I'd like one that has HDMI input if possible but I also would like one that is bright enough to handle the light source that is in my living room...I research a bit and see that any Home Theater Projectors that I can afford are below 2300 Lumens and I wonder if it really matters.
I play a lot of 360 and PS3 videogames as well as watch a TON of movies and HD TV.
My question: Would I be well off with a Projector that put out less than 2000 lumens in a low lit room? |

I have an Optomoa EzPro 745. I am very happy with the product for the most part except that whenever I get a medium amount of ambient light in my bedroom, the colors really wash out. I even bought blacked out drapes but light gets in through the cracks.
I selected this model because of the 2300 lumens and thought it would be bright even in ambient lighting. I was considering a new device with more lumens to get a brighter picture but someone told me that the lumens is not a fair indicator of the picture quality/brightness in ambient light.
Can someone shed some light on this topic. (no pun intended) And/or suggest a good <2k model that will give me a bright picture in a fairly lit room from 15 feet back on a 100" screen?
Thanks

I wish I could help you. I'm actually in the same boat, except I'm in the military stationed in Korea and I can't find anyone who can ship me a replacement color wheel. It took me about 5 minutes to open up my projector and pull out the broken color wheel. Of course yours is probably different, but I'm far from a mechanic. If anyone out there knows where I can get an Optoma EZ 745 Color Wheel let me know. |

First off, I have been lurking and have been trying to learn as much as I can, but I need some help.
I am trying to figure out which would be the best connection option for me.
I have the Optoma EzPro 745 for use as my home TV. As you probably know, on the back it has the following Inputs:
DVI-D, S-Video, VGA, and Compsite.
I have a Sony STR-DE898, which the rear hookups can be seen at this link:

I do not subscibe to a Digital cable package, all I have is th "basic" cable that comes in with the Internet service. I assume it would be analog, but I have no idea. My cable feeds direclty into my RCA DVD Recorder, which can be seen here:

By now you may already know to help me, hopefully so. Currently I am using the co-ax feeding in from the wall in to my DVD. From there I have RCA running to my Sony Receiver, then S-Video to the projector.
From what I understand, even with my basic cable, I could experience a better picture with the right cables. I do not know where to go from here. Should I use the HDMI on the back converted to Component to plug into the Reciever, then go from component to DVI-D, or Component to VGA.
Sorry this is so long, but I really need help. |
