Topic:   How often should a projector be cleaned

Christie LX50
Projector Specs
This is probably like asking how long a piece of string is, but assuming its not in a particularly dusty environment, and we keep the filters clean, how often should our Christie LX50 need cleaning? I ask because its been confirmed it is very dirty after three and a half years use. Although it has been positioned where it is very difficult to access to clean the filters. We are going to move it to make it more accessible, but are still concerned what the ongoing running costs are going to be.

Topic:   Troubleshooting Help - poor lamp life / quality

Christie LX50
Projector Specs
Our projector is just over 3.5 years old. It uses a long throw lens onto a 3m * 2.3m screen. The church is quite bright, not helped by the screen being in front of a window. It runs at 1024*768. We have never had good lamp life from the projector (700 hr max), and it seems to be getting worse. The lamp appears to be going again and it is only two or three hundred hours - anyway I'm assuming its going, colour contrast is poor, brightness has gone. The quality has never been better than reasonable, now more and more people are noticing and commenting on the poor quality. Quality is not good even with a new lamp (poor colour definition, lack of contrast - just not as bad as when the lamp ages.) The projector is mounted about 20 foot up, so filter cleaning is not easy. We manage it about every six to eight weeks, but it is often fairly dirty, although we notice when the fan speed rises and that doesn't happen very often. Could temperature be an issue? Any suggestion as to what might be happening would be welcome, and suggestions for improving things please! Could the settinngs have got messed up? I, and others, have tried to improve things so we may have set something the wrong way.
