Topic:   A couple of questions about Optoma H27

Hello, I've had an Optoma H27 projector for the past 3.5 years, and got a total of ~2000+ hours on it, when I started noticing some brightness issues from time to time - some white parts of the video became too shiny, etc.. I wasn't worried, thinking it simply means that my lamp was slowly dying (i read that in the mode i was running it under, it should live for approx. 2000 hours). I continued watching it from time to time, and then sometimes there was some color problems, i mean, after a long watch, the screen would go a bit reddish (also sometimes purplish and greenish..) or something similar.. Over time, the period of time I could watch after starting the projector up until the color problems occured grew smaller.. The only reason I waited with buying a replacement bulb is because there weren't any where I live. Finally, I decided to give up and order one online. While searching for one, I got to these forums, and I read some threads about how people are having problems which are kind of similar, but were told it was NOT a lamp issue, something i havent even considered.. So before I order anything online, I just wanted to make sure whether it is a bulb problem or not.. I should probably mention that once the color problems begin, i can shut the projector off, then turn it back on, and it works just fine, for a short while. so, can anyone tell me if this is a lamp issue or not? Thank you very much! Also, on a side note - in case this is actually a lamp-issue - can anyone please explain to me the huge price difference there is online for a replacement lamp? I've seen pricings ranging from 140$ to 380$.. those are really big gaps.. any explanation for that..? ( http://www.nextag.com/optoma-h27-lamp/compare-html ) Thank you again very much! ~Cres

Topic:   Optoma h27 starting to flicker!

Hi Jason I do agree that the H27 was value for money. I got mine in late 2005, Recently it died on me (about 250 lamp hrs only), powering up for a min or so and would suddenly shut off and then refusing to power up again until some time later. I had thought it was a overheating problem but was told after diagnosis by the agent that the lamp driver and LVPS power ballast needs replacement. Problem is a long lead time for the replacement part and the cost. I find it a pity to scrap a good projector and having to invest in a new and pricey equivalent projector. Hence if you are scrapping your H27, let me know if you are willing to sell off some of your parts. Thanks, Melvin.

Topic:   Optoma H27 dead, no power, nothing

Had the H27 for 3 years. VERY happy. Terrific bang for the buck. Now it is totally dead. No lights, no fan. Nothing. Cannot find reset button, and cannot find any type of fuse. Confirmed bulb is secured (even though it has not been moved from ceiling mount). And yes, confirmed good power and good power cable. Any ideas or suggestons ?

Topic:   Driver for Optoma H27

HAppy Thanksgiving to all! I am setting up my projector to a PC via DVI port however the only resolution I can get is 640x480. I would like to set it up so I can get at least 800x600, but preferrably 1024x768. I tried to look for a driver, but did not have any luck. When I boot the computer the projector splash screen flashes 640x480 resolution. If anyone can direct me to a driver or advise how to set up the PC to recognize this projector with a better resolution, I would greatly appreciate it.
