I decided I was going to have some fun one night and hook up my ps3 to my projector. The only open "port" on my projector is the VGA port. So I bought a cable that goes from HDMI to VGA. And.. nothing!! Played with the settings on both and just cant figure it out. What am I missing?? |

I had a trial movie night at my house with this projector. I was only using S-Video out with a crappy DVD player, projecting to 120" and got the following responses...

All in all, I was impressed with this model (price/performance). With projectors, I know the screens can make all the difference in the world (and they can also be expensive from what I understand).
Component video is going to take you to the next level, I never thought I would have believed it myself but I ran a test of S-video and component on my TV and it was stunning.
There were a lot of 'dark' parts to this movie in the theater too so the dark scenes that you talked about didn't bother me that much.
It made me rethink the whole concept of 'big screen' in my house...I could do big things in my loft with that much wall space.
In a word...impressive!

I noticed the fan noise, but that would change once mounted on the ceiling. I would get the screen and try out the current projector with it, and if you aren’t happy with it then get the other projector.

I say keep it. I never noticed the fan, and I thought the contrast and brightness was perfect. The color was good, but will probably be better when you get the high contrast screen.

The color looked great, contrast was great, and I never noticed the fan noise. I noticed some slight jagged edges around some the edges of things at times - maybe that was the actual DVD, the size (120 inches), or the S-video?

Hi,
I found a really good deal on the NEC LT180 ($900) but I can't seem to find any reviews for it. Here is some info on the projector...

Does anyone have any opinions on this projector? Or is there anything here that screams "don't buy me?"
It will be used in my basement with plans for a screen size around 70"
I'm brand new to home projectors and was referred to this site, hopefully you can give me a little advice.
Thanks a lot for the help! |
