I have 5 XJ-360 and 1 XJ-450 projectors as well. One of my XJ-360s started making weird grinding noises and the picture became basically black and white (a little red and a little blue stayed). So I unmounted it and took a look at it, and found that the plastic around the lamp had browned quite a bit, and as a result there is a little section right under the lamp where it had melted a tiny bit. I can't imagine this is good.
So, three questions:
1) is this normal - that the plastic on the lamp is "browned", so to speak?
2) are the grinding noises associated with the lamp dying?
Edit - It is a 360, despite what the topic says. Typo there. |

Thanks Jim, that's helpful (and reassuring). Just in case anyone else has read this thread and is also looking for a short-throw lens as light and bright as possible, my hunt through the specs has currently landed on the Casio XJ360, 3.96lb and a massive 2X zoom which should deal with most rooms. I haven't even seen this projector let alone used it, but there is a review on the web whose bookmark I have lost, will post tomorrow. |
