Hi there, I have a slight problem with my H79 and cant work it out. Basically when playing my xbox via a vga/dvi cable the picture cuts out occasionally and has to resync for around 6-7 seconds (showing a blue box containing the words "auto in progress" in the same way as it does when syncing on startup.
Its getting annoying and I'm not sure what can be causing it and just wondered if anyone else has come across a similar problem and could maybe give me some advice?
Thanks in advance. |

Listed below is the set-up I plan to use in my HT. The question I have is this:
My room dimensions are 11 X 21. I would like to go with the biggest screen possible. I would like to go with a 108 in horizontal size which makes it 135 diagonal in 4:3 and 124 diagonal 16:9(I believe). The question is will the Optoma be able to accomplish this? I am planning on doing a ceiling mount only. Is it easy going back and forth between 16:9 and 4:3?
Would love some advice. Thanks

I am new to the home theater scene and have been researching components for quite some time. This is my set-up I am planning on using.
Optoma H79 projector
Denon AVR 3806 reciever
Klipsch RF 83 floorstand
Klipsch RC 64 center
Klipsch RS 62 surrounds
Klipsch RT 12d subwoofer
Xbox360
dishnetwork
These are some of my questions:
What type of DVD player? Denon?
Should I get a power cleaner?
This is a dedicated room for theater use, what kind of screen? I would like to go 9ft horizontal for size.
The room is 11X21. Is this set-up good, bad,or kill? Can I get by withthe Klipsch rf82 package? Looking for assistance and advice.

I purchased an H79 so that I could use the power zoom to fill my 4:3 scren width with either 4:3 or 16:9 source material. I'm using a 4:3 Da-Lite Model B with a width of about 80". My throw is about 130". I selected this throw due to room constraints (i.e. anyone want to hit their head on a projector while playing pool?), and it satisfied the online Optoma H79 distance calculator for 16:9. I *assumed* it would allow me to fill the screen witdh with a 4:3 source material, which I have subsequently learned was an incorrect assumption. Using the power zoom, I cannot widen a 4:3 pic enough to fill the 80" screen width. I cannot mount the unit at a longer throw (e.g. 17'?), which I beleive was a recommendation from one of the articles referenced on this forum.
My question is, does some sort of screw-on lens exist that I could use to satisfy both formats using the zoom control?
I emailed Optoma tech support and they suggested I get a scalier (yes, that's how he spelled it). We won't go there...
Any help that anyone on this great forum could provide would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks! |

I am trying to make a decision on a home theatre for a room that about 14 feet wide and 20 feet deep. After a lot of research I am leaning towards either the Optoma H79 or the BenQ PE8720. Any input on these or other competitive options would be appreciated. |
