Topic:   NEED HELP PLEASE! I have a Sanyo Z-3 issue!

Hello, My Sanyo Z-3 is four yrs old and has been running great. The bulb warning lite gad been going on recently so I just replaced the bulb reset the bulb hour counter and cleaned the unit. However, since I did that it still keeps shutting itself off without any warning. Has anyone experienced this or have any knowledge of similar issue?? I would greatly appreciate any assistance. Thanks, Ignacio

This projector uses "Lens Shift". Both vertical and horizontal. No need for keystoning!

If the Z5 is under warranty, hold the authorized repair folks to that warranty. Some customers have had problems with warranty repairs coming with a cost. Good luck.

Topic:   Burned by Sanyo....need some help

I finally got my projector back. Just a few days shy of 1 month after I sent it in. The good: -The picture is perfect, good as new, and the unit looks nice and clean The bad: -They broke one of the feet, now it won't extend. Pennies now level the projector -They lay down the 'out of warranty repair' BS and I tell them to just send it back -They let it sit around for a week, no calls, no returned projector, nothing. -I call back with my arguments for putting it back under a warranty repair. They wont budge. The best they'll do is knock the price down a notch. -I finally cave and authorize payment -Another week goes by with no info. Every time I call they say they'll 'look into it and call back' That happens 3 times before I actually get a return call. Basically they still had it on their 'refused service' shelf instead of the 'repair it' shelf. -Finally it comes back. I plug it in, hit the power and... nothing -It goes back to Sanyo, this time the turnaround time is less than 48 hours. The repair sheet says 'plugged in connectors' Obviously they fixed the blue panel, cleaned the unit up and didnt bother testing it before they sent it to me. -They grossly overcharge for shipping. 'Overnight' is $50 each way according to them. According to the FedEx receipt, it was $20 each way. Thats called fraud and theft as far as I'm concerned. All in all its the worst customer service experience I've ever been through. As indicated earlier in the thread, the people in charge of Sanyo's projector service are completely uninterested in serving their customers or inspiring any kind of brand loyalty. As a result I will NEVER buy another Sanyo product and will steer anyone I know away from them. Yes, all of Sanyo gets the black mark for the projector division's poor behavior. In contrast, the company I bought the projector from, VisualApex has had fantastic customer service. Even 2 years later when I asked for a copy of my old invoice, they had it in my email within minutes. They get my business again. Sanyo won't. Every company seems to have its share of customer service problems. I've always heard about trouble with companies like Dell and Cingular but my experiences with those companies has always been positive. I think the difference is that you can always go over someone's head if you have to or at least have a shot of getting a more reasonable representative if you need to. The difference here is you have nowhere to go with Sanyo. You run into a brick wall that only cares about squeezing repair bills out of someone whether the unit is under warranty or not. One last note to anyone who may have a similar problem with their Sanyo projector in the future and are thinking of sending it in. Clean the unit as thoroughly as you can before you send it and don't pick the 'spots on image' box on the repair form. There wasn't dust on the panels but that's what that box represents, so they never let it go.

Topic:   Heat frp, use burned panels in Sanyo LCD projector

I just had to send unit in for maintenance due to discolorations on screen, blue spots, etc. I had unit for almost 2 years, and was on second bulb. Sent unit in for warranty, as it came with 3 years parts and labor. Found out that there were burnt and overheated panels, and outlying discolorations due to much use. With normal use, this would not happen. I just happen to use whenever I am home for work, weekends, etc. Consequently, they explained that this would be out-of-warranty repair. Forced to get new board for $400 plus shipping. Anyone else experience similar problems with LCD projectors?
