Topic:   Help Color Wheel shattered!
I'll have to check with my suppler Monday. They list very few parts for BenQ. Your serial # may be required as some mfr's change parts during the production run.
Hello, I also have a BenQ PB8240 which I have had for 4.5 years. The color wheel has blown 3 times. First time sent to BenQ for repair, sec I glued it back together myself it ran for a year. Just blew again and this time shattered. Think I could replace it myself if I could get the part. Could you help with the part number? And where I could order it. I called BenQ for this and he just laughed, no help from them. Thanks

Topic:   Help Color Wheel shattered!

Sheridan, You seem to be the man to go to if one needs parts. I have a BenQ PB8240 that split a color wheel into 3 pieces. I have already removed the wheel and feel confident that I can install a new one. Can you please tell me if the part is available, how much it is to include shipping to 72653, and about how long it will take to reach me. I am trying to decide if it is worth it to install the wheel and another bulb in it or buy a new projector. Having a projector is nice, however the expense of bulb changing and parts is not. The unit I use now was a replacement for another warranted BenQ unit that's bulb exploded...is this just a BenQ thing? I've had the replacement for four years now. I have been looking at the Mitsubishi HC3800. It only has 1300 lumens versus the 2500 my BenQ has; it seems that it will be much dimmer than mine but I do have good light control in the room...why are the new projectors so dim in their lumens? The HC3800 is also another DLP which means it too will blow the color wheel in the future. The HC3800 does have a 6 part wheel versus the 4 segmented wheel of mine. It also has double the contrast at 4000 and is a 1080p...will I see that much of a difference? I have been contemplating a LCD too but they seem as unreliable as the DLP because of the heat...doesn't seem to be a way to get a reliable product that one doesn't have to wonder when it will blow up. Any help/advice is appreciated. Lee
