I am looking at trying to go portable with a large screen 12'x20' hd style.
I am new to the arena and have been contemplating many avenues to achieve the ultimate goal- Using the large rear projection screen and minimizing the distance as I want to place this Sreen on top of a trailer.
It needs to be portable and fast setup.
The issues i see is budget, space, and lack of knowledge.
- I see that I can afford appr 12-15000 for the projector/s but prefer less
> I have thought of using the following
- Canon 7665 (1 projector) as I can use one projector with the
ultimate lense
> Gives me about 25 ft from the screen (still i think to far)
As I would have to construct a frame for a cover to block
out most outside light
> Not sure if it give the quality I am looking for
- Canon Real sx50
> Seems to provide the quality, but I still am looking at 30
feet
- Thought of placing 4 of these projecting which would
give me about 8 ft back
- Again not knowing alot apparently it is very difficult to
get the picture quality just right
- I believe i could live with the 25 feet but I was hoping someone may have other options for me to consider. |

I was considering getting this Canon Realis SX50 LCOS projector, $4000+. Then I found this forum and also read up on Sanyo PLV-Z4 $3000.
Now I am confused and wondering which one to buy.
Any advice is highly appreciated. |

[/QUOTE]I was about to buy this unit and now find the reviews disturbing--especially those that note the "softness" of the HD material. I also note that what the Canon folks say about there not being any spillover of light from the unused section of a 16x9 image on the top and bottom of the screen is also refuted by the reviews. What were your impressions of the demo unit is these respects? Thanks..a novice in this arena |

Assume the following:
1. My computer offers a resolution of 1024 x 768.
2. My image is a photograph sized to 824 x 568.
In a CRT, the raster addresses all usable areas of the screen and only those areas needed for the image have "visible video" applied.
Does the same thing happen in a LCD monitor, i.e., does every available pixel get addressed even though some have no data to make them visible, or alternatively, do only pixels needed for the image get addressed?
In other words, with the above assumptions, does the computer output anything at all over the entire 1024x768 array, or is the total computer output limited to the 824x568 dimensions of the image?
I'm trying to learn how to set up a projector and computer, and size an image, for the best projected image.
Thanks,

My Canon SX-50 projector has a native resolution of 1400 x 1050, an aspect ratio of 1.33:1.
My laptop will output 1024x768 (1.33), 1280x1024 (1.25), or 1600x1200 (1.33).
My images are photographs from scanned slides and digital captures, each with a 1.5 ratio.
I can set my photos to any size that has a 1.5 aspect ratio.
To what resoluton should I set the laptop, and to what size should I set the photos, to obtain best projected-image performance?
Thanks!
