My question is the cost of a lamp vs. a new projector. The lamp for my Sharp XV-Z2000 is close to $500.00 w/ S&H plus tax. I'm looking at the DT-510 which has better specs in some accounts and auditioning recentlly for a little over $700.00. I also wanna know if I can mount it in the same position, I'm about 15 feet from my screen (92" diag) I'm thinking I'm gonna go with the new unit. Looking for feedback, thanks. This is a great foerum and I ran across it by accident. I will post some pics as soon as I can. I've installed my system in my living room.
Almost ready to buy, I've read a 1000 pages of info...but I haven't seen the Sanyo Z4. I've seen the sharp xv z-2000, and seems pretty good for the money. I am a stickler for resolution, color and black levels. Saw the sony hp s51 and thought it was ok, but liked the sharp 2000 better.
1. Does anyone know where I can view the z4 in the Wash D.C. area?
2. Has anyone seen the sharp vs the sanyo and which delivers better color, contrast and black levels?
3. IS the DT 400 the same as the z2000?
Thanks,
Steve-o
I'm looking for information about setup or configuration for a front projection system. This is my first system so i don't have any previous experience to draw on. i'm finishing my basement so i'm trying to determine where in the ceiling to run my outlet/cables for the projector.
Information:
Space for the screen can accomdate up to a 100" or so.
The height of the ceiling where the screen is - 7'3".
Seating distance from the screen is about 9'.
The ceiling height of where the projector would be mounted is 6'3".
I was thinking of the Sharp XV-Z2000 for a projector.
Does anyone know of any guides for how to setup everything up?
How do i position the screen vertically? Center of the screen at eye level?
What distance should the projector be from the screen? and at what height?
Are any of these setup parameters dependent on the projector it self?
I recently had a Sharp XV-Z2000 installed and have some calibration questions. I feel the intallers did not fully calibrate the unit using any sort of DVD or source material, etc.
I have a Vutec bright white screen, viewing in a perfect media room setting that controls all ambient light. Overall experience has been positive to date. I think my picture looks great in general, but do know there are lots of setup options for this machine after reading reviews, and would like it to be optimal.
My only visible concern at this time is that the image seems to have a bright "digital glow" around any major red objects. Star Wars red lights, real bright red clothing, etc. will actually exhibit an external glow that has digital blocks around it. This is the only color that I have seen it on, and it can be distracting. Are there any tips that anyone has for this specific product to correct this specific problem? Has anyone seen this before? Also is there a suggested setup DVD that will help me optimize my image and correct this problem?
Thanks for any input or experience.
We'll I'm going to spend money on a Sharp XV-Z2000 and figure I need a new DVD/VCR to go with it. Is there one out there that I can use a single digital connection from the DVD/VCR combo or am I going to have to run multiple cable and switch the projector source? I'd like to have the cable come into the DVD/VCR, as well as my son's game cube or PS2 and then run a single HDMI cable to the projector if possible. Also, I've been told not to worry about upconverting and just get a progressive scan unit. Is this right?
Thanks,
Rick
