Topic:   Please Help AE700 Shuts Off

Look at my earlier post. It turned out to be a power supply problem. The difficult job was finding a repair shop to fix it. I would send it to Panasonic but the cost my not be worth it.

Topic:   Please Help AE700 Shuts Off

These posts are old, but I have a Pana 700U in Jan. 2010 and have just experienced the "not powering up, fan on a for a few seconds, power off" situation. I unplugged after a few cycles to avoid damaging the lamp ($425)... Anyone ever get resolution on this issue, I've started a repair ticket with Panasonic and am waiting to hear back on where to send it. Panasonic was kind enough to replace the original bulb that crapped out after 176 hours for no charge.. but being way out of warranty, I'm expecting a charge to fix it this time.

Topic:   Doumb Qustion?

I have a Panasonic AE700 projector and a 92" 16:9 Fixed frame screen with a 3" black velvet frame. When it comes time to zoom and shift the picture onto the screen, I set the Projector to Cable input with a HD program. I try many chanels but I can't the picture to fit the screen perfect. I end up filling the screen 100% verticaly and the picture flows onto the frame 1" on each side. This is ok b/c the velvet hides the picture. As I change sources from Blu ray to Wii etc, the picture fills the screen different each time. Wii for instance, leaves 2" of un-used screen top and bottom and 3" on the sides. Even different HD channels fill the screen differently. This does not happen on Projection, LCD, or Plasma displays. Simple question WHY?

Topic:   3D ready projector, how to know

I have a Panasonic PT-AE700, a Samsung 3600 blu-ray player, and Polar Express 3D. Not ever watching a 3D movie at home befor, I would have to say the the movie did look 3D. The scene with the ticket floating in the air looked very 3D. This movie had my 3 and 5 year old jumping off the couch many times to touch the movie. Can't wait to see what a 3D projector looks like! Any on know of other Blu-ray movies in 3D and a place to buy non card board glases?

Topic:   LCD projectors - buyer beware? A 3-5 year shelf life?

Certainly some good points.... I guess keeping the filter/projector clean is something I could have done better over the journey... it is interesting though that the AE700 seems to crop up a lot with this issue via a google search... I really liked the idea of a big screen projector...but it isn't something I want to have to buy every 4 years or so... we've still got a couple of 68 cm regular tvs in the family that are clocking up around 10 years of faithful service... tube tv's were somewhat bullet proof by comparison with this 'newer' technology!
