Thanks for reading. I am new and have an Optoma Projector. When I first connected it I didnt connect one of the RGB cables so the colors were really bad. I fixed it and was in HD bliss.
I started it yesterday and thought the cable had come lose as the color was bad again. Then I realized it was the startup screen: Normally a rich blue, now it is grey. So the problem must be coming from the projector. I turned it on and off and did a reset but no luck.
There are only a few hundred hours on the lamp. I bought it used, so is it possible that it was patched or quick fixed for the sale? It was a great picture but it seems like repair vs. replace, i would have to go with replace.
Ideas? Which budget projector has the largest picture for the least distance? I dont know how to phrase it with throw distance, sorry. Thanks. |

I'm a newbie!
I bought an Optoma 732h (refurb) last week. After carefully reading the manual, I started putting the projector on the table and turned it on to test (I plugged it with my laptop). The first 15 minutes was very impressive, but the projector fail (or lamp fail?) afterward. The "LAMP" indicator showed for about 2 minutes and the project automatically shutdown. I tried to start it up again but I heard "pop-corn" sound instead and it seemed like it was totally unable to turn on. According to the manual, it was because of the lamp has reached its life.
One thing I don't understand is that if I give the project some rest (for hours), it can start again but it fails after the first 15 minutes EVERYTIME.
Is it because of the projector or the lamp? Please help me figure out what should I do?
Thank you! |

Can I use normal RCA cables for composite video + audio (just those yellow/white/red ones) to carry a component video signal a very short distance (just from a DVD player to a receiver, <3 ft)? How much will the signal quality realistically suffer? Thanks! |
