Hi all,
I recently took a risk and purchased an Optoma 739 from a surplus store. I can use it without a remote at this time, but there's a problem: there is a vary faint black band that scrolls slowly from the bottom of the screen to the top. It is more visible when there are dark video images/background.
Do you know what's causing this? I understand that this projector was not new. It was a display item at BestBuy so it should not have any usage prior to my purchase.
Any leads would be greatly appreciated. |

I have a problem with my new Optoma 739 and don't know if it's me or a setting I'm not finding.
I do legal presentations for mediation and trial, and the Optoma is my 3rd projector.
My other projectors have a "mute" button, while the Optoma has a "hide" button. I'm generally using a VGA input. When I mute my other projectors they blank the screen, and then after pushing the mute button again immediately (under a second) unblank the screen. The Optoma blanks the screen when the "hide" button is pushed, but after pushing the "hide" button to unblank the screen the Optoma searches for an input which takes 4 to 5 seconds. That may not sound like very long, but under certain circumstances it's an eternity.
I've tried the source input controls in the menu with no luck.
Any help would be immensely appreciated. Thanks
PS. I have attempted to contact Optoma by email and phone to no avail. |

The ability to project a big 120" image makes this is a great projector for my presentation needs, and my kids also love it for playing their Playstation games.
Price/Performance is very good…I bought the 739 for under $1,500…so, at this price, I don’t think you can find a better performing dual-purpose projector – great for both my business presentations and the kid’s video games. |

Well I hope it goes ok. I had the BenQ 6100 which was ok for what it was. It did have very good color and calibration out of the box. The single weakness of it and the unit you purchased is the 2x color wheel which does cause about 15-20% of the people who use a 2x unit to see rainbow effects. Anyway if you don't see the rainbows you should be ok. The 6100 was 1500 lumens and it was plenty bright enough, so this one should give the brightness you want. Perhaps a better choice would have been the Optoma EP739 or EP719 for something comparable with better specs and reviews. |
