Topic:   Vertical Stripe (Shadow) on screen

Hi folks. First off, from what I've read about color shifting, I don't think this is my problem. Very abruptly, my InFocus X1A developed a dull, shadowy stripe on the left side of the screen. You can see that that area is significantly dulled, and the color also fades away as it approaches this area. We've owned the projector for about two years, but for some reason the bulb life reads somewhere in the hundreds (obviously this cannot be accurate). I have removed the lamphouse, and all the connections seem fine; the bulb itself did not look blackened at all. This isn't an alignment or keystone problem. I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. I don't want to drop money on a new lamphouse only to find out that the problem is actually in the optics. I'm attaching an image. Any help would be appreciated!

Topic:   Upconversion - Downconversion Net Quality

I have an Infocus X1a which will accept up to 720p through the component (VESA) input. I'm considering a bluray or oppo upconverting dvd player. I'm wondering if I will gain any picture quality over standard dvd by going through the upconversion process, and then through the down conversion process from the 720p input on the projector to the 16:9 output. (Native resolution is 800x600.) I can imagine situations where the multiple conversions could actually reduce the image quality. However, I can also believe that given the amount of intelligence that goes into upconversion these days, it is possible that I might still come out ahead. Any one have any thoughts or experience in this? (I assume that an actual HD bluray disc, output in 720p to the projector will look better than a standard def disc upconverted and played through the same projector.)

Topic:   Problems With Infocus X2 Color Wheel

Hey Sheridan, Looks like you have become the local expert at getting out of stock X1 parts! I too am experiencing a color wheel failure on my X1 and was hoping to find a replacement and $120 seems to be a bargin compared to full blown projector replacement. Do you have access to another replacement? If so, please e-mail at rgthree@gmail.com. Thanks.

Topic:   infocus autodetect wrong resolution

I have an infocus X1a projector. Sometimes when I power up, or, put in a new dvd, the projector autodetects strange resolutions. (I'm using the component to VESA adapter and "computer" source.) When the projector finds the source signal, it sets up to bizarre resolutions such as "600 x 236 60Hz" or, other non-standard sources. The display is then very squished vertically and very long horizontally. I cannot figure out what is causing this problem. Why does this happen, and what can I do about it? Also, I often notice that the color pallete will change depending on the sync level and horizontal tracking values. (Alternating between proper and red/blue inverted signals.) These all sound like sync signal problems to me, but I can't figure out how to set up the projector or the dvd player to get it right. Has anyone else had this problem? Kokomodo

Topic:   infous projector picture problem

My picture was looking great saturday, but when I turned on projector sunday morning, along the right side of the projected picture and corner is not visible and brownish. when I turn on the blank screen function it is very noticeable. Does anyone have an idea what might be the problem. The rest of the picture is clear and looks fine, it is just that right corner and about 3 inches of the right side. My lamp said 2300 hours on it, and the projector is mounted on the wall so it doesn't get moved around and is stationary. Please anyone with some information will be greatly appreciated.
