Topic:   blue spots in the projected image, cable issue?

Naaaa, I'm not upset. Is just, you know, when you see a defect in your equipment and get so focused on it and are so obsessed with the problem that you don't see any of the advantages of the pj only spots all over the screen!!! :-) I will take it easy and keep trying with different cable/setups configurations. M.

Hello Matt, Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately the spots appear at random, and using Svideo disappear completely. Marcos.

Topic:   blue spots in the projected image, cable issue?

Hello all, I have an IBM E400 PJ. It offers DVI, SVideo and composite connectors. With the PJ cames a DVI to VGA cable. Using this cable and with information found in Internet I've made a VGA to components cable (using CAT5 STP). The VGA is connected to the PJ (vía the DVI to VGA) and the components to the DVD YUV signal. It runs for 40 foot. I receive signal (in fact far better than using Svideo) but I see noise in the images (not very noticeable, only when I look very close to the screen, 3 foot away). I've redo the cable several times with the same problem (I've even tried a different type of cable -coaxial type- just to be sure everything is ok) but the problem persists. I have also tried with the contrast and brights controls. No matter what I've done -even to the point where I cannot see the image because all is black- the spots are still there. Is there any reason why I'm having this problem? I've tested it with other players and still see the "noise" (small, random pixels grey or blue) when projecting the film. Thanks in advance, Marcos.

Topic:   IBM E400?

Hello there, I was the one that posted the review on the projecto a while back. I have it mounted in the ceiling in the theatre room that I have in the basement and I have no complaints about the performance of the projector whatsoever. I have 2 windows in the room which I have covered with wide venetian blinds (does a great job of keeping the light out). Best performance is under low light or no light setting. I have a satellite feed into the projector as well as my XBOX, PC, and progressive scan DVD player. It handles all the HD signals without any problems. The only thing you don't have is TRUE 16:9 on the projector. My screen size is around 102" (diagonal) and when I mounted the projector, I had to allow for the "black bars" on the top and bottom of the picture. There is a 16:9 setting on the projector but it does a poor job of it... it "squishes" the picture. I just leave the setting for a 4:3 ratio and since most of my movies are in widescreen format, it looks the same as if I was watching it on a regular CRT TV. If you're looking to hook it up to a progressive scan DVD player, I suggest you pick up a COMPONENT VIDEO to VGA cable. Sounds crazy, but it works. It's the only way the projector will detect a progressive scan signal. The lumens and the contrast level are great for a cheap entry level projector. Once you have it setup, be sure to use the THX Optimizer (found on various movie DVD's). It will help you set up your color levels and black levels and it improved picture quality quite a bit after I used it on both my 27" TV and the projector. Hope this helps your decision!

Hello all, I have a good oportunity to purchase this proyector brand new at 750$ aprox. Anyone in the forum with this PJ that can give me a feedback? I've already read the review of projector central but it was a review after a few hours of use only... One thing that worries me is that is a business PJ, not a Home Cinema one. Is there a big difference between one and the other? Which difference? Thanks in advance for your replies. Regards, Marcos.
