OK thanks for the info, However ...lol... I go to reset the hrs and I cant even get the thing to turn on, it shows the warm up screen for like 2 seconds then shuts off, the power button goes orange. and the Lamp goes Red, think the power is flashing... yes it is. anyway.. my question would be this. if it shows the warm up screen for a few seconds... would that not indicate the bulb still works... since well it turns on...lol... if I can get around that then im sure I can reset the counter... who knows maybe if I try later it will work... but I tried a few times each time same thing... I even shut the power off completly from the power bar... and let it set for a few seconds... thinking it might have something like a risidual memory telling it that its dumb and has to turn off.. got any sugestions... hrs are 2084 and all but maybe 100 are Ecconomy mode so I am guessing the bulb should still have a few hundred hrs on it.
any info? Thanks.

Hello, I do not know if anyone has tried this or not, I looked the forum over and didn't see any mention of it, and was not able to locate on the net anywhere... of course I could be blind and the answer is out there somewhere. However. In the Manual for the BenQ PB6110 it says DO NOT reset the hour counter unless you replace the bulb. So of course my question is WHY? To elaborate, the projector is working just fine it has over 2000 hrs on it now and its used everyday sometimes for hrs on end... (I know not recomended but come on... when the screen is over 10 Feet in Diag... how can you not do everything on it, LOL). When the projector hit 2000Hrs it gave the warning, HOWEVER at the EXACT SAME TIME when you turn the unit on now it does a half dozen or so quick flashes almost as if the unit is trying to short the bulb out. (A MIND OF ITS OWN OR WHAT..LOL) anyway, I was wondering if reseting the hr counter with the old bulb actually has any effect on the unit or bulb. how does the unit know its not a new bulb in it?? since it hit 2000 hrs it has not gotten any darker but just does the flickering just as the warning is about to go away. ANY INFO would be awsome. THANKS!

Well I have a PB6110 and it now has 2250 hours and has run mostly in Eco mode.
In all that time, I am still happy with the performance and brightness and even with some ambient light on in the room.
As to a suggestion, I have been eyeballing the new BenQ W100. It is a 16:9 native entry level Home Theater projector with a native resolution of 848 x 480. They are selling for as little as $800 here in Canada and the few reviews of them are very glowing.
Another one to consider is the Mitsubishi that just dropped to $995 USD. It is a 1280 x 720 and gets good marks from the folks here at PJcentral.
However, if you are willing to go as high as $1500, then I personally would get the Sanyo PLV-Z5 or perhaps a few more $$$ and then the Panasonic AX100. |

I just switched from Satellite to Cable because regular programs show up so dark and disk technicians were not able to correct the problem. It is important to note that commercials are fine. Now with cable, I have the same problem. The brightness of the projector is maximized, but is seems to make no difference, except that the commercials are almost washed out. I subscribe to the HD service, but it makes no difference whether it is a HD channel or not. The older tvs in the house have great pictures. They use the same cable and no boxes. The cable guys came out after the initial install and tweaked the new box to maximize the HD picture, but no difference. Also DVDs seem to have normal pictures. Any ideas? |
