Topic:   Help! Problem with InFocus SP4805 image - dark bottom corner -

Hello All, First time poster and first time projector owner as well. I just bought a used InFocus SP4805 off ebay. The item was supposed to be lightly used with only 85 hours on the lamp. It looks brand new and came well packed. However, was disappointed to see that the bottom right hand corner of the picture is not showing up. It looks like a dark smudge that runs about 1/3rd of the screen. Its hard to describe please see the pictures. On bright shots the smudge is tinged with a yellow band of light. Could this be dust or some particle stuck in the light path? Could this be the dreaded "light tunnel" problem? Any help will be appreciated. I am fairly technically adept and can open it up and clean/fix if necessary. thank you ak

Looking for suggestion While most everything is 720P I feel I would benefit from 1080P and it's smaller pixel structure this is what I have. A SP4605 mounted to my rooms back wall distance from wall to front of lens is 15" centerline to floor 80" Distance to screen 11'6" Seating distance to screen 9'5" Screen type Pull down 77" diag Dalite HCMW with extra material this slides down infront of a TV screen sits 30" from floor to bottom of screen surface and 37" from top of screen surface to ceiling the SP4805 was rated at 850 Lumens I detuned that a bit with a Hoya #2 ND filter. My living room is duel purpose I have 34" CRT tv for daily usage and the Projector for movies and gaming The room is light controlled I'm really interested in some of these new affordable 1080p's however most seem to have a lot of lumen output which is something I do not necessary need I started out with a LCD that lasted a long time 11 yrs to be exact, Then graduated up in resolution to the 4805 which I loved till I had to fix the Light tunnel replace and fix the faulty lamp fan, discover the fan controller to be non functional so now I have external power feeding the fan So Im interested in somthing new DLP LCD or LCO for 3k or less preferably less open to suggestions

Topic:   Where to purchase a light tunnel for an Infocus X3?
I find it suprising that this topic has over 2000 hits. It shouldn't reallly have that many. So the only possible exlination that it does is that there are a lot of people that have infocus PJ's with bad light tunnels. It is really the only reason I can think of so many people would read this topic. Subjects that appear far more universal get far less hits.
Yes it is surprising that a company can sell a product with such a bad design, and then not support it better. I have a SP 4805 that I loved. I've been living with a bad light tunnel for over a year just waiting for the lamp to go out so I can replace it with a new projector, which will NOT be an Infocus. I have not heard of any other brand of projector having this problem. Is it exclusive to Infocus?

Topic:   Infocus 4805 Projection Problem

hi, requesting help with an issue with my InFocus SP 4805 I have, it was new on purchase and around 2 years old. Lamp used 1000 hours (out of 3000 or so of potential life). Problem is at on the left and right of the projection are a slight dis-colouration. There's like two yellow or browny patches from the top of the projection to the bottom. This bar is only small on the screen, and doesn't go into the movie screen itself although I would like to know what it is. Anyone know? Note1: I've read the sticky topic about discolouration caused by polarisers. I don't know what the polarisers are, although this issue is not general to the projection as the issue with the polariser describes. Note2: I have cleaned the filters and checked the bulb for marks/dirt. I've also cleaned the colour wheel with a cotton bud, and cleaned the lense with lense cleaner.

Topic:   Infocus SP4805 fault

Hi. Had a SP4805 that i bought a few months back and yesterday i switched it on and all i got was black specles on the screen. Now i get nothing. I am thinking it's had it and might claim off the house insurance. Does anyone know how much you would have paid for one of these 3 years ago. Cheers
