Case history ( Part 1 ):
• Mid July, 2009 the original projector lamp started to fail
• In July 23, 2009 I purchased a new bulb for a total amount of US $226.99, including shipping & insurance. Seller is an ebay based in NJ ( USA )
• 4 days later, that is July 27, I received the bulb and was very happy since the lamp worked properly and, for this reason, I gave a very positive feedback to the seller... what silly goodness gracious !
• With only 27 hours of usage, the projector came out with the new “replace the lamp”, fact that beside the bright in excess observed from the beginning, suggested that the bulb was not appropriate at all for the projector, probably designed to run on a lower voltage, thus the projector would be reading the lamp as faulty, and this would explain the bright in excess.
• Based on the 90-day manufacture warranty and accordingly to the instructions provided by the seller, in September 25, 2009 I sent the bulb to the manufacturer in Guangzhou ( PRC ) with a shipment cost of € 39 ( US $ 54 ). Under the seller request in the US, I also sent him US $10 by way of returning cost
• In November 13, 50 DAYS AFTER THE SENDING TO CHINA, MY GOODNESS !!, I received the new lamp...but,
Case history ( Part 2 ):
• The new lamp supplied CAN'T BE INSTALLED because the external pair connectors placed on the glass, don’t fit with the pair that connect the lamp to the electrical supply
• All my attempts of contacting with the seller have been fruitless; no reaction, no answer to my requests so far. It’s clear that the individual doesn’t want face the consequences.
End of the story.
Moral of the story and takeaways:
1. Be careful in choosing ebay suppliers. Even a 99,6 % rate of satisfied customers doesn’t necessarily guarantee quality and success
2. Don’t give feedback to the seller till a reasonable time had passed; 6 months can be ok for most of purposes
3. Sometimes to buy cheap can become expensive. In my case in principle, I paid US $276 for nothing so far.
4. By the way, is it permitted to make public the name of this seller ? If so, take note: princeton lamp |

Few weeks ago I replaced the original lamp after 980 hours of use. Since the task is quite simple, I decided to replace the bulb instead of the whole lamp set and in principle to save a lot of money. I purchased it through the e - bay to an American seller with a customer satisfaction rate close to cent per cent. The lamp it's the original Philips and worked very well, but, after only 27 hours of ussage the projector comes up with the message "replace the lamp".
The image keeps stable and bright and my only concern it's that maybe is more shining than the days before though this is a subjective perception indeed. Since the lamp is still under the 2 months warranty, my intention is to send it to the vendor in the USA, though I'd like to have firstly some support to the following questions:
1) would be possible that brilliance increase is an indication of bad functioning of the bulb ? if so, could current increase because of that and thus the message "replace the lamp" ?
2) is risky for the projector to keep it on working under this circunstances ?
3) which's the right moment to dismantle the lamp to send to the vendor, since in one side the image quality is very good but beside the warranty espires in 1 month approximately ?
Tahanks in advance for the support. All the opinions are very wellcome |

This is a good idea, in fact, few months ago B&H delivered a lens I ordered and paid, in a city in Massachusetts at a private home. My only concern is if the store will accept the delivery at the reception desk of a Hotel without the presence of the addressee. I'll investigate this chance with B&H.
Thank you for your suggestion. |

Yes, it's already an old projector but there are currently stores where it can be purchased, for instance in B&H in NYC and others. The problem is that I didn't find one store located in the route of my son |
