I currently have the Powerlite S1 mounted on a Gyrolock brand suspended mount. My throw distance is 82" for a 70" image. The connection is made via S-Video ran through the wall into the dropped ceiling. The unit is connected to computer,Walk n Talk Smartboard, CPS by eInstruction and is compatible with all audio-visual equipment. I, too, am restricted to flourescent lighting, so for close-tolerance font reading, we turn off the overhead lights and use rear-mounted 60-watt lights. I have to run my Windows at XGA resolution with refresh rate of 72Hz and the "Large Fonts" profiles. The colors are strong, vibrant, and consistent with the same images projected on two 32" televisions at the sides of the classroom. My only gripe with this arrangement is that the projector keeps images much sharper when keystone corrections are minimized on the screen. To fix this problem with ceiling mount, we are extending the drop of the mount from 18" to 30" this summer. I hope this helps. You are welcome to email me directly for additional questions or pics of what this system looks like.:-) |

Here is a picture of the "yellowish" area on the screen. I have tweeked the contrast so it would be easier to see.
Any thoughts?
Thanks |

I have a 3 year old Epson S1 projector which has developed a problem. There is a "yellowish" dark area in the middle of the screen which started a few months ago. The area is more yellow in the middle and sort of fades out at the edges. It looks like "burn in" which I didn't think could happen on LCD projectors.
At first I thought it was the lamp, so I replaced it and the problem is still there. I have cleaned the lens and the small "waffle" piece of glass (in front of the lamp) and nothing changed. Is there something else I can clean in the projector?
Any ideas would help,
Thanks. |

Can someone with a good eye for projection problems help me out?
Its an EMP-S1 projector and after about 700 hrs (home use with DVD via S-Video) the projected image started to look a bit greenish with contrast problems.
A blue sky is now bright white. Reds are too overly red, almost cartoonish. Even with the menu adjustments for color/tint/contrast/brightness/warmth/etc, it just doesn't look right.
Can you check the pics I posted on my web site and give me your opinion? www3.brinkster.com/999site/492s.jpg Also 494s.jpg, 495s.jpg, 496s.jpg, and 497s.jpg.
Is there any further calibration I can do? Is the LCD ruined? I don't want to spend $200 on a bulb if it won't help. (860hrs now).
Thank you!! |

Hello everyone!
I have a home theater that is shapeing up nicely. I reciently painted the walls Kettle black which was a big improvement.
As far as my problem... I have a powerlite S1 and I receintly replaced the bulb ( it blew out with projector on) Shortly after replaceding the bulb, I ahve a blue tint running throught the center of the screen from top to bottom. Its sort of a haze that is most noticeable when the entire screen is black. Also, if I leave somethign "in place" Like an Icon (i run my TV through the PC) the outline of the image will sort of burn into place and still be visable for a while.
If my projector ruined? Is it a DIY fix? what would you reccomend I do?
I am reall ticked off about this, I treat the projector well and never pull power, I always let it run through its cooldown and warmup sequence and then this kinda came out of nowhere.
any help? |
