I have just picked up a Mitsubishi XD300U from a friend and I am bit confused about the Video Size and how to set up the screen. The specs say that it is a native 4:3 projector, yet it supports 720p/1080i rez. Here is the link the review for this monitor:

My question is that if the native res is 4:3 1600x1200, will it support a widescreen rez @ 720p/1080i in widscreen? AND if I build a screen myself, do I build a 4:3 100" screen or a 100" 16:9 screen? It is my understanding that those rez's are all widescreen natives.
I'm hoping someone has seen this problem before. It is weird. My projector only works if it is the right way up (not ceiling mounted). After years of use my trusty XD300U started shutting down about 30 seconds after warming up. The picture is fine for the few seconds until it shuts down. After shutting down it has a steady red power light and a flashing green lamp light. The manual points to a lamp issue (the lamp does not need replacing). It is not worth having it checked out but I know a little bit so I had a look inside myself. Perhaps it was getting too hot. It was a little dusty so I cleaned it up. I tested it on the table top & the problem had gone! When I remounted it to the ceilling (upside down) the problem came back. After many tries I have found that it consistently works if started the right way up but shuts down when started upside down. during my experiments I found that it even works fine if it is started the right way up and then gently rotated until it is upside down. I can't find any loose wires or sensors. Any ideas???
Thanks for reply Harley. Might a new cable box provided by my cable provider cause this? How about a new cordless phone in the home. These are changes I made in the past several weeks. I will do some experimenting in the next several days. Cyklopps

For over two years I have been happy with my Mitsubishi XD300U projector used in a home theater. Recently I am noticing a thin horizontal line on the screen that starts at the bottom and takes about ten seconds to move to the top of the screen after which it repeats over and over. This happens on both video 1 and 2 inputs and have I have not changed any cables, or input sources. Any suggestions or remedy would be appreciated. Cyklopps
