I've just put together a set-up involving a Sony VPL-PX40 and a 16:9 92" screen. This 3500 lumens projector has great interconnectivity, it's compatible with all HDTV formats, but it's not 16:9 native. I got an incredible deal on it and really couldn't let it pass by. Ok I got a 16:9 screen, I don't mind the squeeze when projecting 4:3 signals in wide mode, what really gets me is that there is NO way to get rid of the letterbox generated by the projector when is in "wide" mode.
I work with film & video production and in the past I have used some lens adapters to shoot 16:9 material with 4:3 only capable cameras. This can be done by masking the incoming image or optically compressing it vertically. Has anyone heard of a similar approach to crop the excess light, in this case; letterbox bars coming from the projector? |

The Sony VPL-PX40 has networking capablities. What can be displayed through this network connection? How does your PC hook-up? Does it connect through a Router? |
