Topic:   Where to purchase a light tunnel for an Infocus X3?

Just wanted to post my 2 cents on the light tunnel issue. First and foremost: SHERIDAN IS A LIFE SAVER!! You can order from Sheridan with confidence. Here's my story: funds are tight these days so I'm wringing the old Infocus 4805 as far as she'll go (great pj for the money btw) and tried to fix the collapsed tunnel on my own with poor results: I researched this issue extensively (found those great "how-to's" on AVS forum), got the right glue, carefully aligned the mirror, etc but getting the right amount of glue on those extremely thin fragile mirrors was very challenging and I accidentally glopped a little extra on the side but I thought it looked ok. After reassembly, the issue was initially resolved (ie, the dark edge of the screen disappeared) but my picture gradually lost brightness over the next several weeks even though I had replaced the bulb (great deal with buylighting.com) about a month prior. I opened up the pj again only to discover the glue had burned (even though it was rated for high heat) and discolored portions of the tunnel mirror an amber color, what a total waste of time not to mention my great fear that the interior of pj was further damaged (thankfully not). I've read forums where diy-ers had recreated their own tunnels but don't waste your time. Cutting mirror to this size on your own is impossible, you can't substitute a different material (someone claimed success by bending polished chrome--seems unlikely), I couldn't find a glass shop who could cut mirror to these tiny dimensions, it essentially has to be cut by laser and even if you're lucky to find someone to cut it you still have to glue this thing together the right way (the tunnel is not glued/aligned as a perfect square) and hope the tunnel is seated correctly so the light beam is centered properly, such a hassle. Bottom line, if you are unsuccessful with your glue repair then suck it up and purchase the part. So...I requested and received an email from Sheridan and we arranged payment via PayPal. I wouldn't normally send money to somebody I don't know, and the price was not cheap (the price had gone up), so I was quite nervous but I was desperate for the part as it's impossible to find anywhere else. It took about 10 days to receive because he had to order the part and hope his supplier had them in stock but he was in touch throughout the whole ordering/shipping process. When it arrived, it was such a relief to see such a perfect beautiful shiny bright tunnel in my hands! Once I reassembled the unit, the trusty old 4805 never looked better, total night-and-day difference. I forgot how bright and vibrant this old warhorse is. Of course, it can't compare to the newer pj's out there but it'll be a while before I can afford an upgrade, so the light tunnel repair plus a lamp replacement is the only way to go. All I can say is a big THANKS to Sheridan for saving my SuperBowl party this year! Take it from me, don't put yourself through the same long ridiculous process and just order the part. Sheridan is DA MAN!

Topic:   Infocus X1 Problem

Recently my X1 started to act funny. I turn on the power and everything is normal at first. I can hear the fan start, then what I think is the color wheel. The whirring sound (color wheel?) continues for about 15 seconds and then sounds like the power is going off & on. You can hear it cut out and then quickly turn on again. After a few times like this the LED turns red and start up is halted. If I try 6 or 7 times the Pj will eventually start up fine and project a perfect picture. Does anyone have any ideas? I have also been told that I may not be able to get parts anymore, is that true? Thanks in advance for any help.
