I have three PJ501's that I believe either the power supply is bad or the ballast is bad. They all power on just fine, they just won't light the bulb. You can hear it trying to fire, but nothing happens. I know its not a bulb issue as I've tried a couple brand new bulbs w/ no luck. Just wondering if anybody has any ideas what component would be bad? Is it something as simple as a bad capacitor? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

viewsonic pj501. what will happen if I reset my lamp timer with out replacing the lamp? the book warns not to do this but does not say why. My lamp seams vary bright but the projector gave me a 16 hour shut off warning . will the bulb burn out forever after 16 hours?

The reset instructions are on page 19 of the users guide.
Thx 4 reply but.........
I already did that when I installed the new lamp. I thought maybe there's a manual pin switch somewhere on the projector.
Here's a video link to show what the problem is:

I'm hoping I can get some help on this problem.......
I've had my Viewsonic PJ501 for almost 3 yrs with over 2600 hrs on the bulb. The bulb blew the other day. There's a power indicator lite that emits yellow when in standby, green when in operation, and red when there's a problem. There's also a lamp indicator lite with the same functions. When the bulb blew both power & lamp lite went red.
I replaced the bulb yesterday and it worked great, like a new projector. We had watched a movie & played games for about 4 hrs.
Today I turned on the projector and the two (power & lamp) indicator lites were red. I checked the new bulb and it still intact.
Is there a manual reset switch?
Does anybody know anything about the internals?
Is there a site/forum/help dedicated to viewsonics?
Thanks in advance to all those that can help! =)
