As with many people in this thread, I have a broken/shattered color wheel. Broke last night and projector started making a huge noise. Thought it was the fan ! Until I removed the lamp and saw a piece "floating". I have an NEC HT1000 projector. Can you help me source a color wheel? Also, although fairly handy with most stuff, never dissected a projector yet. And for some reason am unable to totally get the top off the projector to access the color wheel. Any tips/suggestions on that topic also would be highly appreciated. Let me know if you have a color wheel that I can buy or please point me in the right direction. firstname.lastname@example.org ... let me know what else you need from me.

I have been reading this thread because my NEC HT1000 needs repair and it seems like the color wheel may be the problem. I was watching a movie and heard a ping and the projector light turned off. After a 30 minute cool down I turned the projector on. The movie was projected but only in shades of green.
I'm replacing the projector with the Epson PowerLite 8500 but may get the NEC repaired as a backup. Do you still service these projectors and do you also think this is a broken wheel?

They do have the color wheels in stock. Let me know if you are still interested.
My NEC HT1000 color wheel went out/disintegrated last night. Is it possible to get a replacement part? How much? How long will it take? and how do I get one? EMAIL is email@example.com

Thanks Sheridan. I've done some searching and I believe the correct part number is 12JS5552. The following site has a lot of parts lists, in this case for NEC projectors, but I'm sure they have parts for many others as well.
Another question - any advice on replacing the fans in one of these units? The fans are pretty cheap and I figure that I might as well do it "while I'm in there". I have about 6000 hours on the box, so I'm sure one will fail as soon as I get the new color wheel in and have the unit re-mounted on the ceiling.
I snooped around a bit once I got the old color wheel out and it doesn't look as simple as I'd hoped it would be - looks like the optics assemly has to come out in order to access the bottom fan screws... BTW, these was a lot of smutz on what was left of the color wheel.

I'm in a similar boat with my HT1000 - the color wheel exploded tonight. Sheridan, if you're still out there, can you get a color wheel (or part number) for the HT1000? I'm pretty comfortable with doing the repair myself. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer.
