Our basement is our main source of entertainment since we have finished it, one thing I have noticed is that our projector is on a lot more than what I have read the average is.
I was reading that on average people use their projectors 20 hours a month or so? We way exceed this.
I work from home, kids are home-schooled so between the lot of us, the projector gets used a lot. If my wife isn't using it for teaching, we have either movies running or xbox on.. but it's pretty much on from when we wake until we go to bed.
I bought a new Lamp in December, and it blew up last night, ~243 hours last i checked. The bulb should be under warranty, but that's really not my question.
My real question isn't really which projector to pick, but is a projector really right for us? Should I look at 73" LCD tv's instead? We are way used to our 100" screen, so 65" tv's are out of the question (yes, sadly they are too small).
Or possibly, is there a newer projector (cheap as in sub $2k) that would yield us better results? |

This morning when I went to turn on my projector, I noticed the power LED was flashing with 2 red flashes. I proceeded to look this up, the service manual tells me the lamp is at it's 2000 hours. I have ordered a new lamp, but it will not be here until next week.
The manual says I can reset the lamp by pressing and holding Volume- then pressing Volume+ within 3 seconds.
This does not work; can't I still use this old lamp until the new one arrives?
I am also at the latest firmware, just in case that matters. |
