So heres the deal, i bought this projector off ebay for $230 shipped, and its great! It plays games, pllays movies and everything else REALLY clearly and efficiantly. Im 15 and i have it set up in my room on a shelf i put up, its great for what i was looking for because i turned my room into the new 120" movie and game hangout spot. BUT..heres the problem...
It makes a low but irritating humming noise when running. my surround sound drowns it out most of the time but you can hear it liek when theres a quiet scene in a movie. so of course being the type of person i am i decided to open it up one day only to find that the problem was not the fan as i had forseen, but alas, the colorwheel was missing the clear segment out of it, which is why it rattles, but didnt affect the picture color.
So basically the broken color wheel acts like the vibrator in a phone, since it is off balance
Any thoughts guys? |

I recently replaced the bulb in an HP xb31 projector that was
given to me and when I start it up it is discolored with horizontal lines. This can be seen in the picture I posted below. My guess is that
its a polarization issue, but I am hoping this is not the case. Any
feedback regarding this problem would be appreciated. Thanks.

I recently purchased an HP xb31 projector...
It wouldn't show any sign of power when I plugged it into an outlet,
but I just assumed that was because it was missing its lamp.
After purchasing a lamp and installing it into the projector, there is
still no sign of power, except I can slightly hear a rapid clicking noise coming from inside it.
My guess is that it may be a power supply problem, but was curious to see if anyone else has encountered this problem or if anyone has a solution that doesn't require me paying a lot of money to have it repaired.
Any help would be great! Thanks. |

Hi,
I have an HP XB31 projector which I want to use an a home theater. I have tried the internet and have tried contacting HP but have been unable to get a "straight" answer for what I need to make this happen. I currently use the projector attached to a laptop for presentations. Since this only happens about 2x a year, it's gathering dust the pther 363 days. If anyone could provide som info or advice it would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jason |
