Thanks for your help.
I called my cable company, Comcast. They want
$5.99 / Mo for an extra regular cable box & $12.99 Mo
for an extra HD Cable box. The rep said the HD Cable
box will have the component RCA Red, Blue & Green as inputs
on the back.
This price seems high, maybe I don't know the market price.
Before I bought I had some thoughts.
Does a "Cable Box" absolutely have to be rented, or purchased
from the cable company (In this case Comcast), or can I buy
one somewhere, Store, internet, etc. that will work the same
way?
1) The rep said I have to buy it from them. I don't know if this
is True or he was reading off a memorized revenue generating
script. Help?.......
2) I noticed my proj has DVI input. Would it be
better to get a cable that is Red/Green/Blue from
the cable box to VGA, or Reg/Green/Blue from the cable
box to DVI (Which I notices is available on the site you
recommended (Monoprice) The prices of either were very
reasonable
3) Will 50 Ft be a weaker signal than 25 Ft?
4) I plugged just the Yellow RCA video input from
the back of my main existing current cable box
to the back of my projectors Yellow RCA video
input & the image wasn't stable. There is
a periodic vertical bar from top to bottom
part of the time & the picture image goes
up &its like looking at the same image on
an old camera film, like on ancient black & white TV's
that had to be adjusted.
5) Is DVI the best over VGA & S - Video?
I need to learn a lot. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks,

Hello,
I have an Optoma EzPro735. I want to be able to project tv, and I have Comcast cable which uses coaxle cables.
The projector has DVI in, (Yellow) video in & S-Video and a VGA input for the computer, along with an audio (appears to be input)
and an old style mouse input (9 Pin.
The comcast cable comes in through the wall of the house & into a cable box.
A tech guy at the electronics store who uses a projector at home told me to get a splitter for the coaxial cable coming in through the wall, run it into a second cable box I should get from the cable company, then run an S-Video
cable from the additional cable box to the projector. That way I can get tv and watch different channels than what is happening on the main tv. However, my exising cable box for the regular tv (I looked at it) does not have an S-Video input. It only has the coaxial input & output, and the red, white for audio & the yellow input for video. I called the cable company & their tech people could not figure out what inputs on the back of their cable boxes would work.
Can anyone provide tips on how this or how to best get to watch tv
on the projector like one sees at any sports bar? Shouldn't this
be relatively straight forward?
My VCR is kind of old & has the coaxial input and output and the yellow, red and white inputs.
I still have to figure out how to get audio as well.
Thanks in advance for any consideration!! |
