Other than the resolution (1366x768) this projector has been horribly outdated by newer projectors. If your goal is to use this in your home theater for DVD viewing, then basic projectors for well under $1,000 will handily destroy this projector in overall image quality. If you really want to spend the money, I would expect that nothing is wrong with the unit itself. When the lamp on a projector fails typically it goes into a mode where you will get absolutely NO response when you try to power it on. Like when your lightbulb in the kitchen blows... you sure aren't going to get any light from it no matter how many times you flick the switch on the wall. I agree with Crispin on this and believe that you will be much happier with a new projector that not only will perform better, but will include a full manufacturer warranty on the product.
