i finally found out the problem with the projector shutting down prematurely. i replaced the power supply and ballast from my parts projector (eiki sm2) and tested the boxlight sp-6t. it now works beautifully. watched a complete movie without problems. it seems the ballast wasn't keeping proper voltage to the lamp even though it would strike and light the lamp initially and keep it lit until it warmed up before shutting dowm (did not overheat). |

thanks pacifico for your input. the sp-6t would also cycle from bright to dim before shutting down. eventually the lamp would only light for a few seconds before shutting down. i opened the boxlight and the eiki to see what i could r & r. i switched the heat sensor(i think) thats located in the lamp area,(it is about the size of a quarter and about 1/4" thick that is held in by two screws, and has in and out wire.). anyway i felt it would'nt hurt to try. reassembled boxlight. powered on, lamped up, and received signal, i watched it for approximately 10 to 12 minutes without shutting down. it did cycle from bright to dim once but picture was nice. i will be running it for a longer period to see if it eventually shuts down. i'm keeping my fingers crossed. |

thanks, i have a clone projector (eiki sm2) that has image problems that i should be able to r & r components to solve the problem with the boxlight. i was just hoping it would be something simple to repair.
thanks again for your post. |

boxlight sp6t prematurely shuts down. powers up normally, receives signal, displays nice bright image. after approximately 2 minutes projector shuts off. doesn't seem to be overheating (overheat indicator does not luminate) fan works, filters clean, air flow seems ok. thought it might be bulb so purchased bulb, installed, reset timer but still have same problem with shut down. any suggestions? |
