Really need some help with this issue…..
I have been running my Sanyo for the last 12 months with no problems.
I have a PC and PS3 connected to it via DVI and component cable respectively.
About 4 or 5 weeks ago I started to notice some distortion on the projected image.
It’s difficult to describe but it is like a ripple effect running vertically across my screen.
This ripple effect looks like numerous lines, probably less than 1cm thick.
These lines are not one solid colour – they are a slight discolouration of whatever image is on screen e.g. if the screen is completely black then I have thin vertical bands of off-colour black lines across my screen.
The only time I don’t notice these lines is on the blue start up screen.
It doesn’t have any effect on the focus.
I initially put this down to the fact that my bulb was on its last legs but I have put a brand new one in a couple of weeks ago.
I have also installed a new larger projector screen that just seems to have amplified the problem.
The issue is apparent whether im using the PC or PS3.
Anyone got any ideas about what could be causing this problem?
Im open to educated guesses.
Also, if anyone with any know-how could rule certain things out that wont be causing the problem that would be great.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Yeah, I clean the filter regularly (and blow canned air in through that side), but I live in a pretty dusty environment.
Good thought on taking out the bulb, but I've tried it before, and as it turns out, the bulb housing is pretty sealed off from the rest of the innards. I've tried getting canned air deeper inside from there, but it's a pretty dodgy route. Hasn't really helped in the past, but I suppose it's always worth another try. |

Hey folks,
I have a question for any Sanyo gurus out there.
I have a Sanyo PLC-XU35, and have gotten a lot of great years out of it. But I have noticed a problem.
With certain images, the projector has a tendency to "flare out" on brighter patches. It's almost as if the image is "rounding up" to a brighter tone at higher ends of the brightness cruve. This is particularly noticable on flesh-tones, where inexplicable patches of bright orange will flare across the lighter areas a person's face.
The last time I had this problem I took it into the dealer, and they said there was nothing wrong with the machine, but gave the unit a thorough internal cleaning. The problem cleared up immediately.
Now it's crept back again, probably through two years of accumulated dust, and I'm wondering if there's any way to get inside the machine and really dust off the internal parts without having to pay for a dealer to service it.
Has anyone seen a guide to disassmbling and cleaning the inside of a PLC-XU35 anywhere? Or am I pretty much stuck with paying a pro for this?
Thanks! |
