1. Does anyone know why the Power & Lamp indicators both flash red? 2.How much can I sell it for, if the only problem is that the lamp is dead? Anywhere close to $ 9,995 (Street Price (USD) as per projectorcentral.com)? THANKS!

Topic:   Question about Sharp image quality

Hey, I have the exact same problem that you have. If I use the projector on the VGA input, I get a beautiful image (like when I watch a DVD on my PC). However, when I use the video input, I get the same duplication. I changed the bulb and it had no effect. I also tore the thing apart and tried to realign the LCD panels (from the service manual instructions). This wasn't the problem. I also have an XG-E1200U and it DOES NOT have this problem. I just picked up an XG-E3000U and I am checking it soon to see. I don't know if there is something that can be tweaked on the video input circuitry (like a cap or pot or something). I have sort of solved the problem by using a video capture card on my PC and then using my PC as the display. But, the colors still seem a little off this way.

Topic:   Just bought my first projector... HELP!!

Hello i'm new here! I just bought a Sharp XG-3500U projector off Ebay for about $300. The bulb has 533 hours on it and overall I think I got a pretty good deal. I've been researching this model for awhile and it looks like in it's day back around the late 90's it was a pretty high end model. Specifically it looks like it was targeted at conference rooms and not so much home theater. However I have read quite a few reviews of people using these in home theaters with great success. So my questions are. 1. Do you guys think I got a good deal? 2. Is the 1500 lumens this projector puts out sufficient for home theater with little or no ambient light? 3. What is the best way to hook it up? I probably wont use the audio inputs much but for video should I use S-Video out of my dvd player into the projector? This model does not have standard RCA inputs for video. There is another input besides S-Video but I have never seen it before. Any help would be appreciated!! I've lurked around here for awhile and you guys seem to really know your stuff! btw- I will probably just project movies onto a wall for the time being. I also plan on using it in the summer at parties. Perhaps projecting movies on to the side of a barn or house.
