Here it is almost two years later and I've decided to try once more to get my laptop and PLV-60HT to kiss and makeup. I just spent a couple hours trying various settings but no matter what I try I have NO SIGNAL at the PLV-60HT. I also tried my wife's laptop - same issue. I know this projector is getting a bit long in the tooth, but does anyone out there have any suggestions how I might troubleshoot this?
Thanks,
Jerry

I have a home theater with Sanyo PLV-60HT, and it has been delightful for the three years I have been using it. Recently I tried to connect my laptop to the projector via 15 pin VGA cable for demoing some software. My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 8200 with Nvidia GeForce4 440 graphics adapter. I've made this type connection many times on other projectors without problem. However, no matter what I try I can't get the projector to see a signal from the laptop. Below are the things I have already checked. Any ideas what I am missing?
1. I verified the cable works by connecting an external LCD monitor to the laptop via the cable.
2. While connected to the projector, I tried the laptop with "external only" and "internal and external" display settings.
3. I toggled the projector between Video 1, Video 2 and Video 3 but never saw a signal. The computer icon in the menu bar remained disabled.
4. I ensured the laptop was set to a resolution the projector recognizes. I used 1024x768, and even tried 800x600. The PLV-60HT is plug-n-play compliant and multi-scan, so this should work - right?
5. I ensured the AV Receiver which feeds the projector was turned off so the projector isn't getting a signal through component in or Svideo feeds.
6. I have tried various versions of drivers for the GeForce4 440, and am currently running the most recent.
Thanks,
Jerry

I'll try the repeater. I will need to run the emitter about 20 ft. Is that within acceptible limits for an emitter?
Thanks,

I am trying to update the way my projector works in my HT installation. My projector is installed in a lift that disappears into the ceiling. I would like to power on the projector from my Pronto remote while the projector is "parked" in the ceiling so I can use a current detector to trigger the lift to lower.
I'm thinking maybe I can wire my IR receiver to the PLV-60HT wired remote port, then send a "power on signal" from my Pronto wireless remote. Anyone know of a way to do this? The challenge here is how to convert the IR signal to the signal the projector's wired remote port is looking for to power on. Other ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Jerry |
