Topic:   Is it hard to change the lens on an Epson projector?

Our lens on our projector somehow became fogged inside and we would like to change it, but I was also considering moving the projector into the balcony which sits quite a bit further back than where it is mounted now. I found several lenses on eBay when I typed in epson lens that are for my model that were only $200 shipped our door...which is CONSIDERABLY cheaper than I was quoted from some audio video specialists that I called. My question is if they are hard for an average guy to change out by himself rather than paying around a thousand dollars for the lens through the "specialists" and paying them an additional 200-300 dollars to come change it for me. Thank you in advance, Jim

I have a sharp xr-20s dlp projector which is 2200 lumens and 1080i. I'm looking at the epson powerlite 8100i which is 3200 lumens lcd and 1080p. I was wondering if there would be a big difference visualy if i upgraded to the epson. Is dlp better then lcd when it comes to projectors. I'm happy with my sharp but I always want better.

I have a Epson Powerlite 8100i with a bulb that has 1000+ hrs. left on it. No problems with the projector at all. Some minor scratches to the case. I'm trying to get a resale price and just did straight line depreciation at $1500. Is the projector worth that much? I know the bulb is worth $150-300 as is. Would love your input. What a great forum!
